I recently downloaded the Dolphin Kristallweizen Kai shogi software and I have been just amazed at how strong it is. I know very well how strong the top human shogi players are, but based on my comparative experience with both top humans and Dolphin in handicap play I would rate Dolphin as the favorite giving Bishop (Kaku) handicap to any human player, at time limits typical for such matches. My question is whether anyone has heard of any games, either official or unofficial, in which top pros have taken a handicap from the top shogi software? In Go a top program split two games with a just-retired world champion giving a handicap (two stones less komi), so the precedent has been set for a similar match in shogi at bishop handicap.

There's a discussion related to this software at: http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?t=72754
Interesting stuff...

Yes, that was my thread there, with lots of comments from chess programmers. Here I'm hoping for some feedback from shogi players. What is interesting for me is that although the NN chess programs are mostly quite bad at handicap play, this Dolphin shogi program is incredibly good at it!

Where can you get it from? And does it run on Linux?
