Good Shoe....Excellent Service!

Have previously ordered the New Balance Women's 978 from Amazon U.S. - despite living in the U.K. - as we are not offered anything like the range of sizes here and definitely not a 2A fitting which is what I need. Have to say the Amazon service was brilliant - shoes shipped on 5 October and received on 12 October! Also bought at a favourable price as there was a 30% discount on purchases costing more than $100 at the time. So to the shoes. I chose the Grey in 10N and find the fit is good - a neat close fit at the heel and well padded and supportive around the ankle. I very much like the colour for a change as it is a soft mid grey and a welcome change from brown, the leather is soft but reinforced over the toes to protect against bumps. As I already have the 978 I was interested to see the differences - namely a different (and probably more comfortable) interior construction whilst still having the stabilising effect of the motion control, the under sole cushioning feel
s greater, the toe box is definitely wider (not very material to me as I have tapering toes) than the 978 which have a more almond toe shape. I also think the 1659 is slightly shorter than the 978 and with both I have gone a 1/2 size up. I think in general the width is quite generous as I can still wear a mid-weight sock with a thin liner inside. The 1569 looks more like a leather high-top and not so "walking boot" as the 978. I really think they both have much to offer as sturdy light weight out door shoes, not for the hardest of terrain or for the depths of winter but as a three season all rounder! I note from the 978 that the leather does get water marks so a protector spray is a good idea.

Perfect

I always have a hard time finding shoes that fit my small wide feet. New Balance offers an excellent range of sizes and backs it up with quality! This boot is waterproof with speed laces at the top. It was comfortable from the first time I tried it on. It has never pressed a sore spot, created a blister or hurt my feet in any way (which I have to say is a major accomplishment for me). Even after all day, my feet are not angry with me.
I would highly recommend this product. Very pleased!

My new favorite

I bought these when there was a good deal, wanting to try them before the remaining WW978's inventory was gone. I love the 978's and was leery about this replacement. It was a big surprise that I prefer the new WW1569. The shoe seems shorter and rounder as another reviewer observed. These changes are fine with my feet. My toes are more comfortable. I was initially measured at a New Balance Store as a size 7 C/D. However, I found that with thick socks and optional insoles, size 7.5 C/D or 8 C/D better. For these WW1569's 8 C/D is optimal for me, perfect width and length. I have very picky feet, they like these shoes.
