Character style codes

Dear Karen,

I hope this finds you well. I’m reaching out for some Toolbox support.
In my dictionary database, I’ve successfully employed the character style codes, such as |fv{}, fb:, etc., and they always worked perfectly in the export.

Now I have started to implement these in my text corpus, but when I export parts of the corpus using the RTF style, the character codes remain in the text and do not apply the desired style. I’ve tried this in numerous fields, including default Toolbox fields and custom fields, but the codes consistently export as characters.
Below is a screenshot of my RTF Export Process Properties settings.
Any advice on how to solve this issue would be most appreciated.

The first thing I would check would be to see if you have \fv, \fb, etc defined in the Database Type for your Text. 

The vertical-marker bar is telling Toolbox that the backslash marker should be treated special. But the backslash marker has to be there in the list of markers.

With your cursor in your text, do Database, Properties and check the list of markers. You may have to add some.

If that doesn't work, let me know!

Hi Karen,

 

Thank you for your quick reply and for thinking of me J.
I added \fi to the list of markers in the corpus database, but the fi:word is still exporting as fi:word in the RTF export.
By the way, the dictionary database, which has always worked fine with the character style codes, doesn’t have the backslash markers defined either.

Hi, Jan,

I'm sorry to hear that the most common solution didn't solve the problem. At this point, I need your project to try to track it down. You know what I need: the settings files (*.typ, *.lng, *.prj) and at least some of the data which shows the problem.

I'll figure it out somehow.
