If the text file is sorted by the reference, then a Right-Click on the reference in the Concordance should take you to the location. You can then examine the broader context.
I hadn't heard of the freeze problem with the Find in interlinear. The Find is a linear search and can be a bit slow sometimes, but it shouldn't freeze altogether. If you (or Paulus) could send me an example -- your project and a sample word that it freezes on -- I would appreciate it. Part of my job is chasing down bugs.
By the way, version 1.6.0 has just been released. While I don't know if it would perform any better for this problem, it might. A number of bugs have been found and squashed in the last couple years.
You originally asked a question about loading Toolbox data into Flex. I know next to nothing about Flex and don't know what the problem might be. It sounds like it was complaining about a non-Unicode charater. Is your data Unicode? I believe Flex requires it. If no one on the list knows about that message, and if you decided not to continue using Toolbox, you will have to ask on their website.
