Belman Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple
Belmannu is a small village that lies almost exactly midway between Padubidri and Karkala. It is about 12-15 kms from Padubidri after turning right on the Mangalore – Udupi highway at Padubidri. And it is about 18 Km from Karkala. The main attraction of Belmannu village is Durga Parameshwari Temple which was constructed in 7th Century AD. This temple is also known as Vana Durga Temple or Durga of the Forest because it is surrounded by greenery and it appears that this temple is located middle of a thick jungle.

The Tulu Brahmins – Limelight on The beginnings
There are numerous controversial stories that spell the tale of Brahmin inhabitants in the Malabar region of Southern coast of India (Kerala). The present day Karnataka coast was also a part of this region in the history. However, this belt of land was a bit different from that of the Kerala coast, due to the language of its inhabitants, Tulu. The region was hence called, the Tulunaadu.
