From Satcharitra…..
Once there was a man named Gopal Gund, who had no children. By Sai Baba's blessings he got a son. He was happy, and he wondered what he could do as an expression of his joy. There was a Muslim religious date called Urus each Spring. He thought of holding a festival for Urus. All the luminaries around Baba, such as Shama, Tatya Kote, and Dada Kote were pleased with the suggestion. In those days, one needed a permit from the government to hold any special gathering. One of the village officers blocked the effort. However, after a second try, and with Baba's blessing, permission was obtained. This was celebrated for some years, starting in 1911. There was a man named Bhishma, who approached Kaka and said "Every year we are celebrating Urus on the same day as Ram Navami. Wouldn't it be appropriate to also celebrate Ram Navami on the same day?" Kaka agreed. With Baba's permission, celebration of Ram Navami was started and it is now one of the major religious events celebrated in Shirdi. During the life time of Sai Baba this festival was celebrated with all rituals by Hindus and Muslims. The same continues today .
