Ahoy, Y'All,

A real query this time. A friend has begun working family history and discovered that her PHILIPPI ancestors appeared in the Alsace about 1620 and ended up in Pennsylvania in around 1726 — a bit before the Samuel began making its annual runs.  Does anybody on board have any PHILIPPI antecedents they'd admit to? I can put you in touch with my friend.

P.S.:  Who's in charge here now? We've been becalmed for awhile.

Bert  ..... glad to see you still on this site.  I have started putting my information into a readable format. Still get distracted as I Type Something and go off searching again.  I stumble onto information.just by pure luck.  I found a copy of my Beisel ancestry on ebay. The WEDGE has long been out of print yet there it is available and I bought it.  The author follows the Jacob Beissel line and brother to my John Peter Beissel.  This is my ancestor family on the 1733 Samuel trip. There is a Beisel needle company in Alsace but don't find anything on PHILPPI.

Bert,

Working from memory...

There was at least one Philipi - Ensminger marriage back in the old country (Hambach, Bas-Rhin, Alsace).

There were Philipis and Ensmingers on one of the voyages of the Samuel.  Not, I think, the 1733 trip.

I've never followed the Philipis because they're not in my husband's line, but I have some information.

We just moved in November, but I know where my "genealogy" box is, which has my copy of Strassburger and the 1994 "Ensminger of Alsace and Pennsylvania", which I remember as having Philipis in it.

Go ahead and give my email to your friend, and I'll see if I can help.

As to who's in charge - I don't think anyone is at this point.  The captain hasn't been heard from for a couple of years.  I think there was a second in command, from google's point of view, but don't remember who it was.  They're the only two people who can "manage" the group.  Thus the Arabic contingent...
