Dear group,

Erika is back from Ryumonji where she did Jukai ceremony this weekend.  Her new name is Shinsen which means "Deep Spring".  She will be traveling until Nov. 1st with her job but then will be back.  Maybe we can celebrate somehow when she returns.  Gary was also able to make the trip to Ryumonji this weekend and we'll probably hear from him Thursday night.  It sounds like it was a wonderful weekend!

Also, as some of you heard, I was in a bad car accident Saturday evening.  A motorcycle and I collided in an intersection - I was yielding a left turn on green and she didn't have headlights.  I am fine physically but she was thrown into the air and landed on her back.  Luckily she was wearing a helmet which probably saved her life.  I don't know the extent of her injuries at this time.  My car may be totaled but perhaps not.  It will be close.  It reminds me of how just a few seconds can greatly change our present condition - life is very fragile indeed.

I have also finished my training and so will be more present in the upcoming days.  The Insiderart Event is building.  We will have performances by the Prison Performing Artist and music by Lura Koch (native American flute - wait till you hear her!) and Missouri Zen Center will be selling food.  We have mailed out over 1,000 postcards.  Please mark your calendar for Nov. 14th!

Kalen, I am very sorry to hear about this accident.  I would love to help if I can.

I produced the electronic images from the art Gary gave me (so impressed!) and am waiting to hear from him about what else he wants me to do or not.

I also have decided to print a few cards of my own art which I will donate to the event.

Kalen, as I told you and I don't expect you to remember this, I have a once-a-week class on Saturdays that is pretty time-consuming . However, I plan to come to the fair afterwards and I can certainly help to clean up or whatever when it's over if needed.

Thanks so much for doing this and I am hoping you feel better, and the other lady involved in the accident.

- Sue
