Hi all

I built a Shiny app over the summer. This app is using helper.R as for reading and loading data, while shiny.R is manipulating the data and doing the Shiny job (update the data on UI by requirements). It loads the shapefiles from my folder and play around with it in app.

It said "Application successfully deployed to https://cococatty.shinyapps.io/InteractiveMap_Release/" in RStudio after I ran the deploy command and , however, when I go to the link, it says "NOT FOUND" :(

I checked the setup, it's a public and the project size is set to large (which is correct).

Thank you very much!!

Carina

Hi Carina,

Sorry for the delayed response.

We are investigating a possible bug, but you might be able to work around it by naming your main Rmarkdown file index.Rmd.

Hi Joshua

Thanks for the update! However, I have two main R files to run the application.

One for the background data process (helper.R) and another one (combined.R) for Shiny interface manipulation. (refer to screenshot)

Could you advise which one I shall update the name to?

Thank you!

Sounds like helper.R should be named app.R and combined.R should be named ui.R

Checkout the tutorial for more information on the structure of a shiny app.

Hi Joshua

Thanks for the hint!!

I have renamed the R files. However, I have another error on page:
ERROR: cannot change working directory

At first, I thought it was because the shapefiles are in a separate folder and the server got confused when it's executing the "setwd" cmd. (Note: shapefiles contains the specific required geographical data of the app)
Therefore, I tried to put the shapefiles in the same folder as the R files - not working either.

Do I need to keep the shapefiles in the same folder instead of declaring "./pathToFile/shapefiles" when I'm importing the shapefiles?
If not, what causes the error?

Thank you very much for your help!! :D

Hi Joshua

I fixed the setwd issue by comment them out - because I guess all files would be in the same structure after they are uploaded to the server.

Now the error is updated to:
ERROR: app.R did not return a shiny.appobj object.

Am I supposed to return something from app.R?

Thank you!
Carina

There should not be a need to change the working directory for a shinyapps.io app. And path references must be relative, not absolute.

For Shiny specific questions, I would suggest heading to the shiny-discuss group and asking there.

Your application still doesn't work. Have you met the requirement that "Every Shiny app has the same structure: two R scripts saved together in a directory. At a minimum, a Shiny app has ui.R and server.R files." ?
