I have noticed that a scheduled task that deploys an app always fail when i am not logged in. Do I have to turn on automatic logon in Windows XP or there is another solution?

Thank you

When you say App, are you referring to a Shinyapp? I am having a hard time visualizing the scenario you are describing.  Are you trying to redeploy your shiny app application?

When you say logged in, do you mean logged into the shinyapps.io interface?   or are you saying that you have a shiny application with some ability to schedule work and that you find that it isn't running the scheduled work when you aren't connected to it?

Yes, I am referring to a Shinyapp. I am trying to automatically redeploy my shiny app, using a scheduled task that runs an Rscript.

When I say logged in, i mean logged in my windows account. I have configured my pc to start-up automatically (without logging in), when I am away, and run this task. I noticed that the task always ended with an error (result 0x1). Then I set my computer to automatically logon, using my account (using method 1 here http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/315231), and noticed that, from that moment on, the task was completed successfully (result 0x0). So I am asking if I really have to log on in order to deployApp, or there is something else that I am missing.

deploying to shinyapps.io does not need you to be logged in, no.  It communicates with the server using the secret token that you use, so I am guessing something else is going on with your windows box when it starts up without being logged in.  Maybe the network stack is not up, or somehow not routing appropriately?
