Hi,
For the last week I have been getting the 502 Bad Gateway when deploying an app.
I did try doing the deployApp(upload=FALSE) and that worked fine, but it was my older version of the app.
I am not sure why the new version isn't going up.  At first it was over the 100 MB limit, but I have pared down the data to ~70MB.

I have also tried to terminate the app and then do the deploy, but has also not worked.

The error is:
> deployApp()
Preparing to deploy application...DONE
Uploading application bundle...
Error: /v1/applications/10724/upload 502 - <html>
<head><title>502 Bad Gateway</title></head>
<body bgcolor="white">
<center><h1>502 Bad Gateway</h1></center>
<hr><center>nginx/1.4.2</center>
</body>
</html>

Thanks
rajiv

Rajiv,

Thank you for the followup and for your kind words.

For future reference, its important to remember that any files or subdirectories that are in your application directory will be uploaded to the ShinyApps servers. It is advisable to remove unnecessary files and directories for faster upload, and the ensure the total application size does not exceed the current 100Mb limit.

Also, as I have mentioned before, we will likely increase the max application size after the ShinyApps alpha has ended.

Thanks
-Andy

I worked with Andy to solve this error.  The problem was that the total size of all my files was over 100 MB.  I had a data folder with csv and RDA files.  The csv files were the original data with the RDA having the slimmed down data that my app needed.  Even though the server code didn't reference the csv files, the deploy command was trying to upload them.  Since one of my csv was over 1 gig, the upload would fail.  My removing the csv files, I was able to successfully deploy the app.

Glad we solved it and the shinyapps totally rocks
