Hi all,

I am been developing shiny apps to generate diagrams with DiagrammeR locally without any issue. But when uploaded the app on shinyapp.io started experiencing serious issues with the rendering of the diagram color. With safari (the diagram shows black)

With chrome (the correct color gradient can be seen)

I generated a simple reproducible example (code attached). I cannot see any error or warning from the shinyapp.io log (see below). The app can be tested at: https://guiastrennec.shinyapps.io/diagrammer_bug/. Any suggestions on the cause of this issue are welcome.

I am guessing this isn't a shinyapps.io issue, but I can't find the attachment of the reproducible example to try this out on my local machine.  Would you mind sharing the source code for it please?

Thanks,
Tareef

Dear Tareef,

Thank you for looking into my issue, I have attached the app.R for reproducible example. I assumed that shinyapps.io was the cause as the app works perfectly on safari when ran locally.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Thank you so much for the reproducible example.  I have sent this along to our engineering team to look at.  Hopefully we can figure out what we are doing to screw it up when it is running on the server.

Best,
Tareef

Hi Ben,
Unfortunately the issue is one that needs to be resolved by the creator of htmlwidget.  We haven't quite found a way around it, but here is the link that describes the issue and the pull request that was needed to make it work for flexdashboard, and I am guessing the same issue is there for diagrammeR.

We will see if there is a way for us to fix this at a deeper level in the htmlwdigets itself, but for now I think this is unfortunately the best course of action.

Just to clarify, I should have said that the library author would need to make the change to their bindings.  For now, we will take on the task of putting together an article that describes it.

Dear Tareef,

Thank you very much for dedicating time to my issue. Following your suggestions, I will bring this to the DiagrammeR developer.

Kind regards,

Ben
