Creating files in the main ShinyRApp folders (or subfolders) and accessing them locally / via url ?

Is it possible to have a ShinyR app create a file (whatever file, text file, html file, any file) and have it stored on the server to be assessed for so long via URL openly from other IPs ?

Do the standard unix ("ls" i.e.) or R functions work to assess the directory structure ? files list ? just like the app was ran locally ?
