In the Shiny documentation (Readme) under the Features section it says:

Develop and redistribute your own Shiny widgets that other developers can easily drop into their own applications (coming soon!).

Is there any chance to know approximately when this feature is going to be released?

Actually I think by "widgets" there we probably meant custom inputs/outputs.


For outputs, alternatively you can build HTML Widgets which can be reused in Shiny but also other places (R console, R Markdown documents):
