Clickable map regions in Shiny app

Hi,

I need to create a Shiny application with a map of clickable regions. I need when clicking one of regions some basic data or simple table displayed.

I am not sure if this is possible.

I have map of regions in shape format and in kmz format.

Can you please indicate me any possibility of making this possible ?

Incidentally, the Leaflet package docs say this:

"Compared to the leaflet package at https://github.com/jcheng5/leaflet-shiny, the shiny support in this package is still very limited at the moment, but will be improved in the future."

This is no longer true :) Now the Shiny integration works extremely well, better even than the legacy package. New docs coming next week!
