Is there a way to access the current user's zoom level in the R leaflet package (.getZoom() in the leaflet javascript API)?
Is there a relatively easy way to flip the default legend style so that the highest values are on top?

Figured out a method of flipping the legend - create a second scale associated with negative values then mutate the labels back to positive values.
Still unsure on a way to get the user's zoom level though.
