1. The Permaculture Association UK will be 30 years old on May 6th this year. To mark this landmark, the Friends of Burngreave Chapel and cemetery are holding a celebratory ‘What is Permaculture?’ weekend on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th.May.
Venue - The chapel near the Melrose Road entrance to the cemetery
Saturday 10.00am
· Brief introduction to the permaculture ethics, Friends of Burngreave cemetery, /Adventure playground and Fireside Housing Co-op. Alison and John’s activities at home - eg home schooling and car sharing. Abundance tree project.
· Shared lunch; Sheffield Renewables and a visit to Sage Green fingers and School for Vegetables allotments with Fran O’Key and Saskia Baker. in the afternoon.
· Local music in the late aft\enoon/evening and a bat walk (tbc) led by Robert from the Natural History Society around dusk.
Sunday morning 10.00am
· Visit to Parkwood Springs Forest Garden with Tim Shortman,
· lunch back at the cemetery followed by Susannah Diamond and Transition Town activities,
· Patrick Amber's recycled craft workshop and
· bicycle repair . Drawing it all together about 4.00pm
We have a Permaculture display at the chapel and quite a number of Permaculture books, magazines etc.
Material from other local projects such as LEAF, St Catherine's school and Tradebase.will also be available.
Hot and cold drinks will be available. Please bring food to share for lunch.
The chapel is wheelchair accessible.
The event is free but donations are welcomed.
