Subject: [Crookes-walkley] Sheffield's First Repair Café
Hi all,
Sheffield's first Repair Café will be at Heeley City Farm on Saturday 13th April, 10-4.
People who know how to mend stuff bring their tools and get together over coffee with people with broken stuff to get it mended and pass on skills and knowledge.
We hope to be able to mend:
and so on. For larger stuff, we want to promote repairing in Sheffield and support local businesses.
- Small electrical appliances.
- Toys
- Clothing
- Bikes (with http://recyclebikes.co.uk)
- Shoes
- China
- Kitchen utensils
Being able to mend stuff is an important factor of resilience. We need to work towards seeing recycling as failure: failure to mend or reuse or pass on stuff. Come and join us.
This has come out of the Transition Sheffield Workshop last October.
