The Missing Girlfriend Case
Quick Facts

As part of an ongoing effort to show the community the facts about the
Ohio v. Doan case, we are going to provide you with quick facts about
the case. These are facts that have been proven factual in a court of
law. They are not just assumptions or allegations made by the
victim's family. As you read the quick facts, please consider reading
all the articles provided on this website for more in depth information
on the questions you may ask after reading the quick facts.

1. Vincent Doan was incarcerated when Carrie Culberson first met him.
He was in jail for attempted murder in which he shot his then best
friend in the face over a girlfriend. The charges of shooting his
friend were reduced to a smaller sentence and Vincent was released from
jail to begin dating Carrie Culberson.

2. Vincent Doan brutally attacked Carrie Culberson one month before her
disappearance with a space heater. Upon throwing the heater, Carrie
Culberson sustained head injuries that sent her to the hospital. This
incident was when she filed assault charges against Vincent Doan. This
incident is documented in the Clinton County Prosecutor's Office and
at the local hospital where Carrie sought treatment for injuries. This
incident caused Carrie to need seven (7) staples to close the gash on
the back of her head.

3. On the day after Carrie Culberson's disappearance, Vince Doan
called the salon where Carrie worked several times, saying he was
looking for her and he was on his lunch break at around 11:30 a.m. on
August 29, 1996. Time records show that Vincent Doan went into work for
a total of 30 minutes and then left to not return on this day at around
7:30 a.m.

4. Vincent Doan has never taken a polograph test regarding the
disappearance of Carrie Culberson, nor did he ever go out on any
searches for his girlfriend after she vanished.

5. A police search was called off by Chief Richard Payton on the
property of Lawrence Baker (Vincent Doan's father) on Sept. 2, 1996.
The property was left unguarded overnight when a cadaver dog picked up
Carrie Culberson's scent in the pond. The next day when the pond was
drained, there was no body, only muddy foot prints coming in and out of
the pond, and drag marks on the grass. Chief Payton was later charged
with dereliction of duty, and warning the family of Vince Doan that the
police would be searching their property. He was fired from his job.

6. Vincent Doan moved another woman into his residence less than two
weeks after Carrie Culberson disappeared. Carrie and Vince had dated
for three years. Not hardly what a grieving boyfriend would do.

7. Upon Vince Doan's incarceration, his live-in-girlfriend, Shannon
Hodson, began dating his own brother Tracey Baker, and eluded police
for several days before police captured Tracey running on foot near an
interstate. Tracey was arrested for helping Vincent Doan to dispose of
the remains of Carrie Culberson and hauling her car away. He is
serving an eight year sentence for his role in Carrie's
disappearance. Vincent Doan was found guilty of murder and he is
serving a life sentence with no parole.

8. The family of Carrie Culberson sued the police force for the
mishandling of Carrie's case and losing her retrievable remains the
night the pond was no secured. The town of Blanchester, Ohio was
ordered to pay Carrie's family 3.5 million dollars. At this time, the
body of Carrie Culberson is still missing.

9. Vincent Doan refuses to work a plea agreement to reveal the location
of Carrie Culberson's remains. He continues to sit in prison serving
his life sentence.
