Audrey has been missing from Catskill, New York since August 29, 2002.
She was last seen leaving her job where she worked as a nurse at the
Columbia Greene Long Term Health Care Facility. She was headed
westbound on State Route 23 at approximately 11pm driving a 1994 black
Jeep Grand Cherokee with NY plates reading X233UV. Audrey was wearing
dark green medical scrubs and a blue turtle neck with a pendant reading
"#1 mom", and a watch with a white leather band and white face.
Neither the NY State Police nor the FBI have had any luck finding clues
as to Audrey's whereabouts.
Audrey has dedicated her life to her children and would not have just
up and left. (We have recently moved to NY to be closer to the family
and to help in the search for Audrey.)
The same day Audrey disappeared her oldest daughter Sonsia, had
returned home from a month long trip with her Grandparents. They
traveled through North Carolina and Florida to visit Audrey's Brother
Ray and myself. Sonsia spoke with her mother that day who seemed to be
in great spirits. Audrey missed her daughter for the month she was on
vacation and just received a $3 an hour raise that day! She was so
looking forward to seeing her daughter and mother the following
morning!
Audrey had a doctor's appointment that morning and was to pick Sonsia
up and visit her mom following the doctor's. But Audrey never made it
to her appointment or to pick up her daughter. When her husband Jeff
Herron awoke around 6am and realized his wife had not returned home
from work the night before he immediately called Audrey's mom. Jeff
assumed that she could not wait to see her daughter and had gone there
to spend the night. But much to his surprise Audrey was not there and
the search began. Several calls were made and still no Audrey. Jeff
contacted Audrey's stepmother Jeannie Turk who works for the NYS
police and they began the search immediately. Land and air searches
were made for day by NYS police, FBI and the community. Neither Audrey
nor her Jeep was located. An extensive investigation was made on her
husband and their home. Lie detector tests were taken, forensic teams
brought in and a detective more or less lived with her husband for
almost a month. Still, no clues.
It is now going on eight months and still no Audrey and no vehicle.
Audrey is a straight person and down to earth kind of girl. She has
always been against drugs. The worst thing you can say Audrey had done
in her life is smoke cigarettes. The family has been doing everything
possible to get Audrey's story, face, and vehicle out there. We have
passed out flyers, held a benefit to raise money for a reward, and made
tee-shirts and pins. There is a website for Audrey and her picture is
posted on missing person's website seen throughout the world at
http://www.mispers.org. Also, we participated in the NYS 2nd Annual
Missing Persons Day, which was held on April 6, 2003, in Albany, New
York. Her reward is currently at $15,000, $10,000 of which was raised
by family and friends and the other $5,000 was donated by the Carol
Sund Foundation. Audrey's story has also been linked to other web
sites such as the Laci Peterson site. We feel that she needs further
media coverage that extends beyond NY. The media here has been great in
airing her story but we believe that if it is aired further than just
NY State we might get some kind of lead. She is out there somewhere and
someone knows something. It seems that flyers and prayers right now
just don't seem to be doing it. But we will continue with both hoping
for a lead.
Audrey's disappearance has put such a strain on her family and
friends, not to mention her husband and three children that cry every
night for their mom's kisses goodnight! We are pleading and begging
with you to please answer just one of our many prayers and help us to
get Audrey's story extended.
Please find it in your hearts to help us get her face and vehicle out
there. We need all the help we can get. Her family, friends and
especially her children need your help!
Thank you for your time And God Bless you all!
