(EC2 FTP) Can"t connect: USER *** 331 Please specify the password. PASS ****** 230 Login successful.

Hello, 

I have a few EC2 instances that I can connect to fine via command line and Filezilla, but I get the error:

Can"t connect: USER *** 331 Please specify the password. PASS ****** 230 Login successful.

They're set up for passive, no IP restrictions. Any way I can fix this?

It says login successful so the login should be fine.

Check the dir field is correct.

See what dir it shows in filezilla.

I recently had this experience and had to switch from using FTP to SFTP in order to make it work (I'm thinking there was some configuration change by my web host that made the switch necessary)

Also have this problem and I can't change to SFTP. I am trying to connect to my  own server with ShiftEdit, so IP restrictions aren't the problem either. Ideas?

What error do you get?

Did you check the dir field?

If it's a php server you can consider installing the php proxy:
