I'm trying to have my IDP configuration stored in DB instead of files, and would need to understand how to configure shibboleth to load it from there.
Specifically, here are the configuration files that I would like to migrate to DB:
attribute-filter.xml
attribute-resolver.xml
handler.xml
relying-party.xml
logging.xml
service.xml
internal.xml
+ all metadata xml files (is there DB metadata providers?)

Is this possible?

Thanks for your help

Yes. You can refer to the document for how to alter the location from
which files are loaded and and the developer documentation for writing
the necessary plugins to make it happen.

If you want to skip the "developing" part Chad mentioned, put the
config (and/or metadata, in which case you probably don't want the IdP
itself to download and refresh any metadata from external sources)
into an SVN repository.
Should provide all of the features of storing BLOBs in an RDBMS, plus
then some.
