This post is for two specific purposes. The first is to obviously share some brief details about ourselves and our work. And secondly to share about our involvement and support for the refugee work.
To begin with: I work with a non-profit agency called Career Skills Incubator. We are based out of the Centre for Social Innovation Regent Park. As an organisation we support youth, new immigrants with skills building. 100% of our staff is volunteer, and we are really proud of this.
So our most recent involvement is a very exciting prospect. We have a special subsidised #workshop happening next week. This is a digital storytelling workshop for families, individuals, #students, volunteers and organisations working with #refugees, #immigrants or #seniors! No previous experience necessary and we are going to specially include a brief for those working together to help the Syrian refugees in any way shape or form.
Storytelling has been established to go a long way in supporting the emotional and spiritual well-being of refugees across the world. Our job as Canadians is not just to welcome these wonderful people but also to ensure their proper settlement in Canada. Through our cathartic workshop, we are trying to do our part. Personally I am broadcast journalist and a documentary filmmaker, but I have donated my services to this cause to play my part.
These digital stories once created can go a very long way in supporting the core objectives cause of this wonderful group! These stories can be spread through social media and website, and I will be very happy to support even beyond the scope of this workshop.
I invite everyone here to connect with me to ask further questions. This is such a noble cause that no matter how much we do, we can still do more.
Im enclosing a link to further details of the event. Keep up the great work everyone!
