Hi everyone,

Some of my friends (Jaz, Sarah, Nyssa) are starting a print publication in Bushwick called the Bushwick Bridge:

Everyone knows that Bushwick is changing. The reason why the changes are often viewed negatively is that many of them benefit and are driven by those with money and power. We at the Bushwick Bridge want changes that benefit and are shaped by wide numbers of everyday people from all walks of life. We are here to promote voices that are often left out of the conversation, and to highlight and connect diverse perspectives from all over our beloved neighborhood.

Addressing topics like:

n      The Immigrant Experience – stories and interviews from Bushwick residents with an international perspective
n      Back in the Day – stories and photos of Bushwick from back in the day
n      Policing issues (maybe we can call it the policing blotter) stories and info about policing issues/experiences in Bushwick
n      Housing – what’s going on with tenant’s rights, development, rezoning, and more
n      Youth Voices – articles and features by our youth journalists
n      Senior Voices -- articles and features by senior journalists
n      Arts
n      Community News -- local community-oriented initiatives, projects, organizations, and small businesses
n      Events calendar – all things creative and community based
n      Natural life in Bushwick – a look at gardens, trees, and local ecology
n      Possibly ads/classifieds
n      Opinion columns, essays, more

This is a grassroots, DIY, participatory project, and they are looking for writers, artists, people with web skills, and others who are interested to come join them.

Please consider getting in touch by writing: bushwic...@gmail.com

as well as by feeling welcome to show up at the next Bushwick Bridge meeting at Sunday, Feb 16th, 1:30, Express Yourself Cafe on Melrose St & Central Ave.

Thank you!

Kunal
