I have finally had time to update the website.

The most important aspect is a new version of the Standard version of Shetran (up to a 200x200 grid) with the option of an Easy Setup using an XML library file, ASC grid data and time series data.

Also there is new documentation for this Easy Setup along with videos.

If anyone spots any problems then do let me know.

Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the new version. I downloaded the files and tried to run. However, I could not run the easy setup files (tried all three). After running the executable start.exe and selecting the respective .xml file, the program stops giving the following message:

Error opening file
..........
......

Fortran Pause -  Enter command <CR> or <CR> to continue.

I also tried to run the standard version ( e.g. Cobres). It worked in that case. Am I missing some trick? I watched your videos too but could not succeed.

Ananda

Hi Ananda,

Thanks for the message. I have just downloaded the version on the website and tried it and it seems to work fine. The fact that the standard version is working suggests that your machine can run Shetran.

Maybe it is something to do with the permission of the xml file. Can you open the xml file in a text editor?

Can you give me precise details of exactly what you have done. Which version of start.exe have you selected (e.g Shetran-standard-v4.4.5x64\Shetran-standard-v4.4.5x64\easy setup\program\start.exe) and which xml file (e.g.Shetran-standard-v4.4.5x64\Shetran-standard-v4.4.5x64\easy setup\examples\Aire_at_Kildwick_Bridge\Aire_at_Kildwick_BridgeLibraryFile.xml). Where are you trying to run this? On a local drive or on a network? Can you copy everything over to C:\temp and try there.

Regards,
Steve

Hi Ananda,

I think the most likely problem is that the full pathname including the xml file must be less than 200 characters. So if you can move everything to a folder where the full pathname is shorter I think it might work.

Let me know if this helps.

Steve

Hi Steve,

I copied everything to C:\temp and it worked :). Thanks a lot for your help. The computer I am using is in network. Is the problem related to permission to write .xml file?  If it is, I can request the admin to change the setting.

Thanks again.

Ananda

Hi Ananda,

I am glad it is now working. The problem might be to do with writing files over the network but it also might be to do with the length of the full pathname of the xml file. If the pathname is too long I get the same error message. I will change the code in the next week and if you could check the new version that would be great. I will let you know when i have changed the code.

Thanks for letting me know about the problem,
Steve

Hi Ananda,

Here is a Dropbox link where I have increased the length of the character strings.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/49wc134uouaqta7/program.zip?dl=0

In the Easy Setup folder can you replace everything in the program folder with what is in the Dropbox folder. The three executables: start.exe, shetran-prepare-2.2.9.exe and sv4.4.5x64.exe should be different from previously. All the dll's are the same.

Then let me know if it works over the network (so if it works where you previously had problems).

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the link. I tried as you advised but it is not working from the desktop (this is where I tried from initially). The following message is displayed.

Hi Steve,

Further, can the exe file "shetran-prepare-2.2.9-sediment" be used separately to prepare the input files ? I tried but it did not work. I want to run a simulation for  about 200 x 200 (15 m each) size catchment initially with the daily PET data and using AET/PET ratio but later on using the full meteorological data file. Could you please advise how to go about?

Regards,

Ananda
