I have finally got round to producing an updated version of Shetran for the website (it is difficult fitting it in-between the other work I do). Before I make it available for download I was wondering if anyone had the time and inclination to test it.

This is the standard version of Shetran but incorporates the Shetran Easy setup, which takes ASCII grids, time series data and a Shetran library(XML) file and run a Shetran simulation (unfortunately this version of the Easy Setup is not compatible with older versions).

The standard version of Shetran (sv4.4.5x64.exe) is compatible with older versions of Shetran but it does need a 64 bit machine.

I have updated the documentation and even produced videos (there are links at the start of the pdf files) showing how it is done.

Here is the Dropbox link:

If you have any comments you can send them here or directly to me at s.j.bir...@ncl.ac.uk

If all goes to plan I will update the website in about two weeks.

Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I had a first glance on it and it really looks very good. I will go into detail the coming days and keep you updated.

Best regards
Felix

Hi Steve,

I could have a go. What is the size limit for the DEM grid file?

Also, what grid resolution do you recommend, in case I can resample my DEM? I have a couple of possibilities to try

Thanks,

Russell

Hi Russell and Felix,

Thanks for offering to have a look at this.

Russell, I have said the limit for the DEM is 200x200. Although as long as the total number of grid squares within the catchment is less than 40,000 (and it is less than 400 in both the x and y directions) then it will work. Once you are up to 200x200 then the run-time becomes a limiting factor. You can see the examples range from 18x27  grid squares to 183x180 (and even a 300x220 for Haltwhistle which still works)..So if you have time try a variety and see if they all work.

Cheers,
Steve
