Dear Steve

I've been using GUI successfully and have now moved to the easy setup vs for a more detailed look at a large(ish) catchment - complex river at 140km2.

After lots of yelling (at my files) and reading (of the many useful comments here and on facebook), I've successfully run SHETRAN and the results are promising in regards elevation, river channels etc. (it looks like the right river for a start!)

However I have an odd issue when viewing the h5 file for the ph-depth values: the dim2 is only giving me a max value of  7, I expected from your examples this to be the time series: recorded in the pri. file as                                                         Normal completion of SHETRAN run:    4416.15 hours,    4872 steps.

I think I must have missed something very obvious so my apologies if so!

Many thanks

Jenny

Dear Jenny,

Well done on getting it running. In the easy set-up the time series for ph_depth is set to be output every 730 hours (or 1 month) for every soil column in the catchment. So Dim2 is 7 because you are running the simulation for approximately 7 months. Dim0 and Dim1 correspond to the x and y values. When you plot it with Dim2 =0 it will look odd because this is the start of the simulation so all the values within the catchment will be the same.

You can change how often this is produced by changing the visualisation_plan file (times at the end of the file) and running the standard version of Shetran.

We are also developing a new Viewer (which reads the h5 file and the xml file). It is much easier to visualise all the data, including plotting time series of ph_depth at a point. The latest version can be downloaded from Github (https://github.com/nclwater/shetran-results-viewer/releases/tag/v1.6.4). It is large but you do not need to install any additional software.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
Steve

Dear Steve

This is great, thank you for the swift response - much appreciated. I should have worked out it was months!

I'll give these a go and see how things are

Many thanks

Jenny
