Live music and dance events in the next couple of months - mark your calendar, and take these opportunities for joy:

 

Friday Feb. 20: Balkanika, a Denver folk dance group, teaching dances and performing, followed by open dance to recorded music; 7:30 p.m. $5 BIFD members, $10 nonmembers. Sodal Hall in the Avalon, 6185 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder.

 

Thursday, February 26

Festo! Festo! featuring Balkanika and Gaitani (Bulgarian dance troupe), with music by Gora Gora Orkestar and a community jam. JCC Denver Philips Social Hall, 350 S Dahlia St Denver. 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. https://tickets.jccdenver.org/festo

 

Saturday February 28, Hebrew Sacred Chanting (Kirtan) to live music, including James Hoskins. 7:30 - 9 pm, 3599 South Ivanhoe St Denver.

 

Saturday March 21 Glendi in the Tango Studio at the Avalon. Mostly Greek music by Sherefe, plus quick teaching by Biz. Potluck at 6 pm, then dance to live music 7 to 10. $15 donation requested. See the attached flyer.

 

March 27: Rhythm Republik, live music for dancing at BIFD, 7:30 p.m in Sodal Hall at the Avalon. One or two sets,  plus open international folk dances to recorded music. $5.

 

April 24–26: BIFD  dance workshop with Tineke and Maurits van Geel; Armenian and Roma dance. Details on the BIFD website.
