An unauthorised message "wet T shirt" has appeared on our Group, which
I have reported to Google as abuse. Hopefully it will be removed by
Google. Meanwhile, of course, do NOT attempt to read it; messages of
this type often contain Spam or even viruses.

Hi Chantal,
Welcome back! I hope you had a good time. We missed you! We had a meeting in the Hillmead Community Hall last Saturday and I showed a short video of Rob Hopkins of the Transition movement. We decided to change our name to Transition Shepton. Valerie and I went to the Wells Transition Group last week which had about 50 people! They showed a DVD called "The Power of Community" of how Cuba overcame its problems when the Soviet Union broke up. (They converted their agriculture to organic due to lack of artificial fertilisers and pesticides!) We're going to borrow their copy of the DVD...

Steph has offered to hold the next meeting at her place at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 2nd. We're going to see if a mid-week meeting will get more support (we'll aim to keep it to about 90 minutes...).
Valerie will report back on the meeting she went to today about the proposal to build for Dobbies (owned by Tesco) to build a Garden Centre at the old Tesco site. I printed some leaflets for her to hand out, as she pointed out that the people who oppose the spread of a large national/international company could well be our natural allies in encouraging local resilience.
Once again, good to have you back.
Rod
