The Burke Center landscaping project along the frontage of FM150 is still being planned and scheduled at the landscape architect's office -- this will be a tremendous upgrade for Center's look and first impression to passer's-by. Can you imagine landscaping along a hot, dry highway with little to no irrigation? That's the challenge we have, so experts have been asked to help with ideas and a plan that will work for years to come. Stay tuned. This project will really be fun and rewarding once we have a plan in place.
In the mean time, we have two small projects:
1) cut down 10 to 12 dead oak trees
2) reclaim a 30'x20' former garden area from weeds and grass
Team 1 - we need experienced chain saw operators and tree limbdraggers / stackers. If you are an experienced chain saw operator, please contact Carl Floto. We will not be climbing on ladders or in trees. Needed: chain saws & fuel, ropes, black spray paint and work gloves. Bring your own cooler, water and lawn chair.
Team 2 - we need two lawn mowers, weed-eaters and at least one heavy-duty garden tiller (rear tine would be best, but front tine will do), several rakes, wasp spray (just in case), work gloves, landscape/lawn bags. If you want to help reclaim the former vegetable and herb garden from the grass and weeds - please contact Carl Floto. Bring your own cooler, water and lawn chair.
As landscapers, we will probably assemble as earlier than 8:00am and take advantage of the cool morning shade. Come be a part of this project.
Read Matthew 25: 35-40; then come spread Palanca upon the grounds of The Pathfinders Boys Ranch. Remember, this project and lunch afterwards is open to all the church -- spread the word and invite your friends!
But there is more!! After the morning work projects, meet new friends from SHPC, Wimberley, Dripping Springs, Westlake and Covenant Presbyterian churches for a picnic, Saturday, August 4, from 12:00-3:00 pm @ Lynn Osler and Marvin Williams home, 13401 Evergreen Way in Dripping Springs. Even if you can't make the morning work projects... please come out for the picnic and some good ole' fashioned Christian fellowship. Ruth Ann Widner ruthan...@yahoo.com(512.740-2379) is taking $6 catered lunch reservations for the picnic. No charge for children 5 and under. RSVP on or before July 31st. Bring your swimsuits & towels, lawn chairs or blankets.
They will know we are Christians by our love!
