Just a reminder that the Litter Committee scheduled a Clean Sweep event this Saturday at Shelton Lake from 9-11 am. The meeting location is on Shelton Avenue (Rt 108) where the big powerlines cross the highway. This is about halfway between the Dog Park (Nells Rock Rd) and Willoughby Road. I’ll bring some bags, gloves, patches, and a signup sheet. I sent out a notice to the Trails Committee’s email list since the event includes trails.

I’m disappointed that Shelton Clean-up Project scheduled a clean-up somewhere else for the exact same day and time and our two events will therefore be competing with each other. Who is planning on attending?

Yes, the Trails Committee’s email list is quite large and goes to the school staff who post opportunities for community service. The problem is that they also post Shelton Clean-Up Project’s Event occurring at exactly the same time at the commuter lot. A lot of students go to those.

I just installed a new sign on the kiosk there under the powerlines and there is already a tire leaning against the gate and plenty of garbage. I saw a woman valiantly cleaning up along Shelton Ave by herself a week or two ago. Maybe she put the tire there.

Regarding Old Stratford Road, that’s great as long as they are getting Nells Rock Road and Mill Street first. Those are the top priorities, and that may be more Highways & Bridges. It’s hard to tell. At certain times of the year, like winter or early spring, Parks & Rec staff may be low on tasks and help with things like litter cleanup.
