I’ve drawn up a stylized map of the Rec Path (attached) designed for the average person who doesn’t relate well to maps.  The idea is for them to quickly get a sense of the Rec Path.  I showed it to a couple of nonhikers at Town Hall who grasped immediately what everything was (one even said, “You mean this goes to Huntington Center??”).  

 

You can’t analyze it, because you will quickly see that parts of it make no sense. But it seems to work for the average person, who relates to landmarks and simplicity more than accuracy or details.

Great job!  I would say 90% of Shelton residents do not know this trail system is in place.

Thanks, I think you’re right about residents not grasping where the Rec Path is. I’m going to give copies to the Aldermen.  BTW, they have a meeting tonight and 279 Soundview is on the agenda.
