Interesting email I received recently:
I am excited to find your web page on Eklund Gardens as I knew "Uncle Herman" as a child. He was good friends with my Grandmother and Grandfather Tallberg from Ansonia. I used to swim in his "cement pond" at his home in the 1970's and how much I admired his log home even though I was only a child.
I remember him doing caprenter work at my mother's and father's (Richard and Lucille Tallberg) house on Howe Avenue. As you said, he was a master carpenter and I can verify this as I remember him coming into our home and loterally eyeing up a non-traditional constructed archway between the living and dining room areas (the house was built in the late 1800's), walking outside and cutting a piece of paneling without a measurement! When they brought it in, it fit perfectly!
I remember him visiting my grandparents in Ansonia quite often. I know there were ties between them as they were all Swedes and my grandfather was what would be considered a Master Painter.
If I can remember any more stories to share I will be glad to. Also, if you should have any questions for me, feel free to ask and I can contact whatever is left of the Tallberg family and see if there are any other stories to be told.

Thanks Teresa- When I first started dating my wife Laura in the late 80’s she lived at Sunwood Condos. We would often go for walks back there and the house was still standing and we always admired the stone work and the log home. Sad day when the home burned down. Tom
