Commissioners,
A post was made on a local Facebook Group, from the medical office building behind Parkers Restaurant where the City Hall holiday party was held. They were wondering what was going on with the tree work.
As reminder, this is the former WinNelson site which had some warehouse buildings. There was a PDD application to construct on the location another medical office type building, along with some residential leading down along the river.
At the deliberations for the application, the tree removals indicated would be done to remove diseased trees, dangerous limbs, etc.
I can't download the video other than as a static photo, but in that photo, a tree branch removed behind the excavator does have a hollow center. I'm no arborist, but it seems to be more than that. You can see in one of the photos that the State of CT Environmental Police were on location, but I don't know who called them, what they were there for, or what transpired.
From their application (see last photo below) the embankment notes allow "pruning branches for view and tree health shall be allowed under the supervision and approval of the wetlands enforcement officer". My understanding is Ron has been working from home since last week through next Tuesday, so maybe that's why the CT DEEP police were there?
