The Australian Computer Society is sponsoring deployment of Sahana
for the May 2006 Jogjakarta Earthquake. The team now on the ground is
from Indonesian Whitewater Association and Indonesian Rescue Source,
with technical support from UrRemote.

The plan is for the IWA/IRA team, already at Bantul, Klaten and
Jogja, to upload camp and victim data to a Sahana system at urRemote.com.

Contributions, comments and assistance would be welcome. Details at
<http://urremote.com/index.php?title=Sahana_Jogja>.

We have not built a specialized functional camp management system yet.
However as Tom said you can use the people registry with the other
components to function as one.

However we have a simple Camp Registry (GIS enabled) that tracks the
location of various camps and some basic data on facilities and people
on a Google Map. You can find a demo here:

Sure let us know if you need any help. BTW the next version of Sahana
(ver 0.4) is a lot more feature rich and the camp registry has been
enhanced on that one. Additionally it includes a logistics system that
can help track supplies and the transfer of supplies to various
inventories. We are just about to release it, but can hold off and give
priority to customize it for your specific needs right now.

Pradeeper will be the contact for this

Dear Mifan

we are planning to use your code to power shelterfinder.org, as our code has turned out to be too time consuming t fix/maintain

Additional suggested requirements based on functionality that we have come across as useful as follows

create disaster instance (java earthquake may 2006, for example)
craete a new camp location and associate it to disaster instance
update/edit all fields to ensure that the data is kept current
query/list/sort camps selectevely based on location/events instance (for example: select all camps in indonesia,  or select all camps in given village)
localise interface adding manual tags to all fields (so that a bilingual volunteer can write a quick interface in any language at deployment time)

also:

Data export
the only other functionality that we currently have on shelterfidenris the possiblity to
export the camps data in various format. Exporting data does not exclude having some level of control over privacy, as this can be designed at various levels. The data export facility enables the propagation and use of the data across platforms, as once disaster data is collected it can be dynamically  distributed to various agencies. An xml feed updates at runtime, so that the exported data will alwasy be the current data in the dbase

We have also created an RDF feed, with the thought that differnt xml feeds may want to be integrated at some stage, assuming you want to create a virtual 'join' or a match between
the shelter feed and the 'missing people' feed - this was the idea at the time.I am not sure if you'd like to pursue this at any stage, and the concept may need furter refinement

Finally, the shelterfinder team and the current version of the p2paid.org code are happy to work with you and this team to develop sahana code further so that its going to be easy for us and for others to be deployed and used quickly duirng any future emergencies

Let us know how can we help

Cheers

Paola Di Maio

regarding the inventory/logicistcs, we have create a p2paid functinality currently coded in php
that manages the camps supplies and tracks the supply lifecycle as follows

request is issued
request fulfilled in part of in total
recepts of supplies issued
follow up report on supply allocation and futures

it would be nice if you'd be interested in extending the functionality of your cms further
and even nicer if you could use our code. Its published on the site somewhere when you have time to look at it

Hi All,

Since I am in charge of the CR,CMS development, I'd better start off by
explaining them.

Currently, Sahana consists of the Camps Registry[CR], which is an overall
registry to manage camps. Features of the CR include:
- Ability to add,edit,manage camps
- Assign contact persons for camps
- Reporting on camps
- Total capacity of people/camp
- GIS location of camps on GoogleMaps

The Camps Management System[CMS] is meant to be a bigger system, which is
used to  manage a single camp in an isolated manner. This is currently
under development. Features of the CMS would be:
- Management of a single camp offline
- Management of victims within the camp
- Inventory/Logistics management of camp
- GIS/GPS functionality
- Request Management for Camp

It would be nice to get feedback on the actual requirements of the CMS.
The CMS is supposed to be the necessary integration of existing modules
such as the Inventory Control System, Request Management System, Logistics
system etc.. We also have plans to integrate future GPS,Biometrics modules
to the CMS as well.

Lets start a discussion on this, so that we can finalize and evaluate the
requirements for the above system.

Regards

Mifan
