Dear shelter supporters

We would like to inform you, that IFRC has agreed to handover the Shelter Cluster Coordination to IOM per 15th of December 2009

We concluded that the focus of the shelter interventions have moved rapidly into recovery solutions, since the government is finalizing its relief distributions and the shelter agencies have started the distribution of transitional shelters and repair kits. Referring to our global mandate to convene shelter in the emergency phase of the response, we therefore hand over the cluster coordination to another organization.

The other clusters, our DSWD counterpart and the other stakeholders are currently being informed.

We have all the trust in the experienced IOM team lead by Phil Brewster and are sure they will do an excellent job. Shortly you will be informed about their contact details and other information.

We thank you very much for everyones cooperation and support in the coordination.

Dear Shelter Cluster colleagues,

As you know IFRC has the commitment to coordinate the Shelter Cluster
during the emergency phase after natural disasters. The emergency
phase of the typhoons response in the Philippines is finished so we
are handing over the coordination of the shelter cluster for this
response. The original plan, as per Jan-Willem's email below, was to
hand over to IOM but finally it has not happened.

IFRC has handed over to UN-HABITAT the coordination of the Shelter
Cluster in the Philippines as of today. The new coordinator of the
Shelter Cluster is Ms. Eden Pintor-Garde. Eden has greatly contributed
to the Shelter Cluster in this operation and in the past, as you all
know. I am sure that Eden and the UN-HABITAT team will provide
excellent coordination to the shelter actors.

In case of future new natural disasters that require additional
shelter coordination, IFRC will take over again the coordination of
the emergency phase.

Thanks to all of you for your support to the IFRC team during the
coordination of the emergency phase.
