I just download VM today & found 3 things not working:
even follow the Getting start guide,
1. Admin's password can not be changed
2. I setup static IP but at next reboot, is not effect and I have to
run "dhclient lnc0" again
3. unable to create new scan, always get message LOG BAD HERE
please advise

I will look into numbers 1 and 3 for you this weekend and post a bug
fix.
For number 2 there should be a command that you can run,
svmNetworkSetup.sh
The svmNetworkSetup.sh should walk you through configuring the network
card. I had made a split in my paths on how I wanted to have people
configure the network settings so the web interface doesn't touch the
network settings anymore. I guess I should put that back so the
changes made in the web interface will stick.....Until then, just the
svmNetworkSetup.sh script which will allow you to configure your
network settings and they will stay past a reboot.

I missed your problem with not being able to change Admin's password.
Were you trying to change the admin account's password within the web
app or root's password in the VM?
If you have your VM connected to the Internet, you should receive an
update. It should be configured to check-in on the top of every
hour. I have posted Update 10013 which allows for the creation of new
scans. To access the available updates, you would want to go to
System Status and then click on the Upgrades tab. There you will find
the available updates.
