Hi

I'm looking for some specific information on Polly (Shellaker) and Frank Brown.

As some of you know I'm writing narratives of various Shellakers and  villages connected to the family, checking source data and collecting relevant images. To date I have almost completed Emma, Nellie, Frank Cable and family, plus the village of Loddington.

I recently started Polly but have little information relating to the chronology of Polly & Frank's life after their marriage in Grantham and where they lived.

·         1st child -  May. She was born in May 1893. Anyone know the date?

·         NB. Dependant on the date of May’s birth it was only was seven months after Polly and Frank’s marriage in Oct 1892 – Do we speculate Polly was pregnant when she married?

·         4th child - Daisy. Born 30th August 1899. Anybody know where? Holdenhurst Road,?

·         5th child - Edith. Date and place of birth? Holdenhurst Road,?

·         6th child – Francis Joseph aka ‘Joe’. Born in January 1902. Anybody know where? Holdenhurst Road?

·         Does anyone have the copies of the full birth certificates of any of Polly’s six children which they can scan and email to me?

·         Census 1901 & 1911 – Anyone have copies of these census records with Frank & Polly’s whereabouts.

·         Any idea when the family moved from Bournemouth?

·         Does Hampton Wick mean anything as a place of residence?

·         By 1915 the family are living are 1 St Leonards Road, Surbiton. (Source Bertha’s National Registration Card). Any idea when the family moved here?

Undoubtedly  further questions will follow.

Many Thanks

David

AFAIK all three of Bertha's children were born there. Best check with
Frank for more details.
I have a number of photos from that period.

I'm not sure about the dates of when Bertha's Mum and Dad were there -
I'll have to check my audio archive.

I've plonked a few pictures in you Dropbox share - hope this helps!

Hi Colin

I saw the pics of Bertha on Wikitree which look great.

Can you resend me the link to the shared Dropbox folder?

Thanks

Hi Colin,
Earlier this I went to Belton House and got to go in the House Keepers
quarters, it was quite something. They would love to have any photos
or stories re past staff as they have very little. Perhaps you'd be
kind enough to get in touch and pass on some information for them?

Hope you're keeping well
Luv

Hi Fay,

Sorry, but as discussed here several times it would appear that there
IS NO INFORMATION because the whole mythology of a connection with
Belton House is due to an aberration - accidental or deliberate - on
the part of the infamous former Mr. Cable.

I agree with Colin. There is no evidence whatsoever or any document to indicate that either Polly or Frank worked at Belton House at any time in their lives.

Such evidence may be found in the future to prove us wrong but I doubt it as the actual evidence (and there is a good amount) points us to a different and far less glamorous scenario.

But just as interesting, of course.  :)

Keeping it real.
