Hi All

The Will of Francis Shellaker of Lyndon mentions a legacy 'to my niece MARY ELWOOD' .

Does anyone know who she might be?

DETAILS:

FRANCIS SHELLAKER

- Baptised -  16th Jan 1689. Lyndon

- Buried -  September 11th 1779 aged 86. Lyndon.

- His Will written in 1760.

- No evidence of a marriage in his Will or in Parish Records or Online Records - so 'niece' cannot be  a niece of a wife.

'Mary Elwood' is likely be the daughter of one of his sisters. Francis had three sisters;

MARY SHELACRES

- Baptised - 8th June1682. Lyndon

- Married WILLIAM WALTERS 13th May 1706 in Lyndon

ELIZABETH SHELACRES

- Baptised 29th Dec 1684. Lyndon

- No further records of Elizabeth

- Could Mary Elwood be her daughter and therefore a niece of Francis?

HELEN SHELACRES

- Baptised 27th Feb 1686. Lyndon

- No further records of Helen

- Could Mary Elwood be her daughter and therefore a niece of Francis?

Alternatively

The Mary Shelacres who married William Walters had a daughter named Mary  - who was therefore a niece of Francis

- Baptised 26th Sept 1708. Lyndon

- Did this girl, MARY WALTERS, marry a man named ELWOOD?

Any thoughts or information anyone?

Regards
