I'm looking for a jazz compilation that I borrowed from my local
library in 1990. This means that it had to have been released
sometime in the late '80s - 1986-89. It was a 3-CD collection
featuring traditional jazz, jazz-fusion, and smooth jazz up to the
point of its release. On it were Miles Davis and other established
artists as well as up-and-coming(as of the late 80s) artists whom I
don't remember.
All I do remember is that this was an UNREAL compilation of various
jazz styles including traditional, modern, smooth(think CD101.9 in
NY)
and . . . some of the most ethereal fusions of jazz, funk, and
synthesizer ever created up to that point. My library no longer has
the 3-disc set in their circulation, but I would remember the cover
at
first sight.
Please help clue me in if you are familiar with what I'm talking
about. For some reason I remember either Davis' or Coltrane's name
on
the cover - details are sketchy - but this is a collection I remember
from when I was 20 and I MUST have.
Thanks,
