Hey!

So SHDC#9 was great fun; seemed we got lots of stuff done even if
various birthdays kept a few of you away. I've written it up at
http://mookstar.wordpress.com/2008/10/20/shdc9/.

So, before it falls off my radar, now is the time to select the date
for the next one. The doodle thing seemed to work well, so i'm using
that again:

Please cast your votes for which days you can make!

Plus if you want to say what you might be working on, chuck it in this
thread. See you at the next one...

Cheers,
Simon

Hi Simon,

Sounds like you guys had fun at #9. I've got a few ideas but am way
too busy with mobile phone cameras at work right now... I'll have to
see if I can make it a bit closer to the day.

Cheers,

Rich

Thanks for all the votes so far! Looks like it is narrowing down to
15th or 22nd.

Please get any more votes in asap; i'll aim to pick the date on
monday!

Ok, decision made!

SHDC#10 will be Saturday 22nd November.

Put it in your diary! Invite a hacker friend/new face to come along!
Add a post saying what you might be working on!

See you then,
Simon

Just realised the Sat 22nd is this weekend! Time flies...

Hopefully people are still up for SHDC! Please confirm to me if you
are coming, and perhaps post an idea of what you might be up to if you
know.

I think i'll be pimping a big trak, and maybe seeing if an old bike
frame is capable of being rescued.

I'll be coming!

Still working on my cycling computer. I want to play with the new mBed
timer API and logging data to RAM, and then downloading it to my PC
for graphing. If this is as striaght forward as I hope it will be, I
then want to play with battery-backup of the mBed's RAM so I can
download my log at leisure (i.e. every few days).

... I'm also considering a stretch-goal of getting my Nintendo GBA:SP
to do the graphing via UART in real-time...

PS - I _still_ have the outstanding issue that I don't know how I'm
going to attach this damn thing to my bike once I have it programmed
up and working. I want some sort of HUD!

PPS - Vicky should be coming too - She got a new Asus Eee PC, and she
wants to whip the Linux install into shape. I'm sure our combined
expertise should be of help.

Good idea!

But I don't want the mBed exposed to the elements - so I think I'll
put it inside a rain-proof plastic box (Fererro Roche?). Maybe elastic
bands to keep the lid on when cycling.

Oh - and I should get a Zero-Insertion-Force socket for the mBed so I
can mount it to some breakboard. Breadboard seems a little too big ..

I'll bring my butane-powered soldering iron / knife and hack away at
some plastic boxes!

Poor hugo! I'll have to work on making his mail-chomping code a bit
more robust/tolerant...
