We have had some residential break ins pop up again. Please make sure you let a trusted friend/neighbor keep an eye on your residence if you’re going out of town. Set your alarms/make sure they are registered and have your notifications on for any video surveillance systems you have.

The Law in North Carolina
Legal fireworks: Snake/glow worms, smoke devices, party/string poppers wire sparklers, or sparkling devices that do not detonate, explode, spin or propel themselves into the air.
Remember under North Carolina Law, 14-410 - Manufacture, Sale and the use of pyrotechnics is prohibited. This includes possession of exploding class C fireworks (South Carolina types).
Illegal fireworks: Anything that explodes or is projected into the air, firecrackers, rockets, roman candles and aerial fireworks.
Every year we receive an abundance number of Fireworks/shots fired calls for service. It is overwhelming and there are not enough officers to respond. If you know an EXACT location of where the ILLEGAL fireworks are coming from- An actual address and you want to speak to an officer then an officer will be dispatched. If you call and just advise you see ILLEGAL fireworks in the sky several blocks away or a mile or two away, officers are not going to respond. The information will just be sent to the officers computers. We can guarantee that July 4th has always been a very busy night, please don’t call 911 unless it is an emergency. If you SEE with your very own eyes someone shooting a gun in the air, then you call 911. Officers will not be able to locate the exact locations the sounds are directly coming from.

The reporting person advised the homeowners are out of town and they were completing work at the incident location. An unknown suspect used a ladder to climb to the 2nd floor and broke a window to the residence and entered. It is unknown what is missing from the home at the time of the report.
