Happy 4th of July..!!! We hope everyone has a fun and SAFE holiday weekend….!!! Please remember, although it IS our Independence Day, fireworks are still illegal.
There are many fireworks shows throughout the city and nearby cities if anyone wants to see legal fireworks. If you have pets, PLEASE keep them inside tonight as we do not want to see any of our furry friends run off from the noise of any possible fireworks being set off.
Continue to follow our crime prevention tips below to help keep your property safe.

The Law in North Carolina
Legal fireworks: Snake/glow worms, smoke devices, party/string poppers wire sparklers, or sparkling devices that do not detonate, explode, spin or propel themselves into the air.
Remember under North Carolina Law, 14-410 - Manufacture, Sale and the use of pyrotechnics is prohibited. This includes possession of exploding class C fireworks (South Carolina types).
Illegal fireworks: Anything that explodes or is projected into the air, firecrackers, rockets, roman candles and aerial fireworks.
- Lock Vehicles
- Remove All Valuables
- Leave Outside Lights On
- Shut & Lock Garage Doors and Windows
- DO NOT LEAVE KEYS IN VEHICLES
- Call 911 if you see any suspicious people or vehicles!
- Have a trusted neighbor keep an eye on your property if you’re going out of town!
- Set your Alarms!
- DO NOT LEAVE GUNS IN VEHICLES
- IF YOU HAVE AN ALARM- PLEASE REGISTER YOUR ALARM AT THE BELOW SITE.
- IF YOU HAVE AN ALARM, MAKE SURE YOU’RE USING IT.

The victim reported an unknown suspect stole their vehicle sometime overnight. The victim’s vehicle was left unlocked with a key fob inside.

20250628-0728-01 Stolen Vehicle Dumbarton Dr
Officers located a Hyundai vehicle parked on the side of the road while enroute to the above stolen vehicle. The vehicle was wrecked and when Officers contacted the owner it was determined to have been stolen sometime overnight by an unknown means. This stolen vehicle was also used in crime in Providence division earlier in the night.
