Hi teams,

If you are a team that uses a field in Worcester as your home fields, this is important information for you.
Other teams, please be aware that this information has been approved by NECA Board.

The bottom line is that the Town of Worcester has raised concerns about Cricket teams planting the stumps on the ground. This has become a big issue to the point that they were going to revoke or not issue any more field permits for Cricket.
As a result, any games held in Worcester fields (all of them) MUST use a wood block or a retractable stumps in order to use the field.

This is an unfortunate set-back for Worcester based teams. But, thanks to some dedicated effort from Arvind Venkatesan (SCC2) and Gopi Chari (SCC1), we still can play in this ground with this limitation.

Aravind Venkatesan (SCC2) will write an email to any teams that have used Worceter based field as a home field (if he hasn't already done yet) informing you of the unfortunate situation that has brought us to this point.
He will have some specific requests to get a field permit in the future.

IMPORTANT:
There are a few games scheduled for this weekend in Worcester. These home teams [Holmes Strikers & SCC 1] should plan on securing 2 sets of wood blocks to plant the stumps. Or have retractable stumps.
If you do not have one, please borrow one or buy one.

I just spoke to Priyadarshan Tumkur from NECC sports. He has a few of these blocks and is relatively inexpensive. You can reach out to him at 508-904-3004 if you need to buy one. If you need, he can also assist in getting retractable stumps.

Please plan ahead. Do not get into a situation where you put the field permits of other teams using these fields in jeopardy.

Lastly, this exception is allowed only in Worcester fields. All other fields should stick to our standard use of the fields.

Regards,
Ganesh Iyer on behalf of NECA Board
