Aswin,
Arvind called me after your game was interrupted by rain and mentioned that the game could not be continued at that point. If a game is interrupted, we should make every effort to wait and see if it can be resumed. If it cannot be resumed, the game can be rescheduled anytime the same weekend when both teams can mutually agree and have field availability. The game cannot be continued. It has to be restarted.
In the event that the game cannot be rescheduled due to field, weather, or team availability, the game is considered abandoned. NECA does not take partial games and does not recalculate targets based on any specific rules of reduced overs.
As a result, if this game (even if there were only a few runs/overs/wickets to be completed), had to be abandoned due to weather, the two teams will split the points.
Fortunately or unfortunately, this rule works better for a losing team if the game is interrupted and cannot be resumed. But, that's something the league has accepted as reasonable.
Please note that this rule does NOT apply for playoffs. Only for season games. There has to be a result for a playoff game. Which may result in rescheduling the game over the following weekend and moving all other following games.
Hope this helps.

Ganesh Iyer

Aswin / Arvind,
I brought this up with the ECs offline and we are in agreement that if the match gets interrupted at any stage and the teams are unable to continue after the rain or unable to reschedule it on the same weekend that the (regular season ) match be considered a washout. Teams will split 2 points each and the NRR would remain unchanged.
This is exactly how we have followed the rule for many years. If you would like to debate this rule, please bring this up at the next year's kick-off and we can take a vote if any changes are required.
Thank you for understanding.

Aswin,
Since you were not at the ground and I was let me put few facts right.
- We did bowl one over after break even though it started raining.
- it rained pretty hard so we took a break. We waited close to 25 minutes 15+10 reset. It was still raining hard and for the fact it kept on raining for lot more time even beyond that. So no matter what you or I think game could not have continued.
- last but most important, ground was definitely unplayable with puddles of water and slippery grass. People are not going to war here and I expect some common sense when it comes to possibility of injury. Being the only EC at the grd, I honestly had to make that call regardless of your team's eagerness to continue or my team's position.
- and finally I request you to change the tone of your messages to be more respectful and stop accusing us of foul play. If we did not want to continue we wouldn't have waited for that long at the grd and wouldn't have suggested for a rematch as long as EC agrees.
- this is not the first time a washout happened and probably not the first time it happened in between a game. Nor does your score at that point guarantees that you would have won. We did call Ganesh immediately after the game and facilitated abhinav's conversation with him. We are going by what the rules are. It probably will be best if we can put this behind us and focus on remaining summer..good luck

Hi Amit,
You intention to correct some of the facts is good.
Even if they are completely wrong you should correct the facts.
Yes anything could have happened if rain stopped.
>> change the tone of your messages to be more respectful and stop accusing us of foul play
By reading your email especially the above line, the way you requested him to “change the tone”, “stop accusing” made me to feel that you’re more aggressive; it is my opinion I am not sure about others.
Take it easy, the decision is made you will be notified by Ganesh soon.
Thanks, Bala

Bala,
With due respect, what makes my email more aggressive compared to aswins email. We dont want to drag the issue and keptn quiet, but this is aswins second and third email to the group despite clarifications from ganesh on the game day. I just intended to correct some so called facts. I am just reaching out to you, kindly don't take it otherwise and I and my whole team feel for warriors but as I said before anything could have happened if the game continued.
Regards,
Amit

Thanks Ganesh.
Hey Amit Partani I felt your email tone is more aggressive than Aswin’s. Let’s discuss smoothly and make decision.
Aswin was not there at the time of this incident..
Aswin I would assume you have reviewed your email with Abhinav before you sent it. There could communication problem between you and Abhinav.
>> At the first drop of the rain Sharon team started saying we can’t play even if the rain stops because of injury concern
Ganesh is going to talk to whoever is involved in making decision and find out exact details. This point need to be discussed more
>> Sharon team proposed and committed us for a re-match next week
>> wouldn't have suggested for a rematch as long as EC agrees
This statement has to be confirmed.
Either case please remember we said many times, the regular season game has to be completed at given weekend.
Thanks, Bala
