Subject: Update on Harvest Festival 2013, Friday, 25 Oct 2013
Dear Beloved in Lord Jesus Christ,
“The first of the first fruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the LORD thy God” Exodus 23:19
I am glad to inform you that it is Harvest Festival time in our Church
It is time for all us to thank our Lord Jesus Christ for all the blessings He has showered on us from time to time and bring the ‘first fruits of our land into His House’. Let us count our blessings one by one, each time you count, you must humble yourself before Lord. In Old Testament we read that King David pondered over his life, he remembered that he was a shepherd boy, youngest in the family, not much considered but God has anointed him to be the King of His flock, from wilderness to the Palace!
Harvest Festival- the ‘feast of the first fruits’ shall be celebrated in our Church on Friday 25 October 2013 at our Church premises from 4.30 PM onwards.
Mr P N C Menon, Chairman, Sobha Group will be the Chief Guest, while Mr Anto Antony, MP will be Guest of Honour at the Public Meeting. For the first time in the history of our Church, we shall be honouring an ‘Un-sung Hero’ of our times. In this regard, Rev. Fr. Davis Chiramel shall be honoured for his outstanding contributions to the society. Fr. Davis has donated his kidney to a complete stranger and started a ‘mass movement’ called ‘Kidney Federation of India’.
Harvest Festival 2013 shall feature a wide range of food stalls offering traditional home made delicacies to ‘LIVE’ cooking stations. There will be dedicated areas for shopping and games as well. Here comes the icing on the cake, there will also be a ‘Ganamela’ by Biju Narayanan and team
I am pleased to update you that various committees are working hard to make this year’s Harvest Festival a grand success.
Well, that is not enough; I still need everybody’s whole hearted participation. If you are not a part of this yet, you may be wondering what way you could be part of this.
First of all, I would request each family of our Church to have at least one invitation book. You may purchase additional books for inviting your ‘non-church goers’ friends. Secondly, can you please donate various items towards auctioning (this could be any ‘unused/unwanted gifts, handicrafts, food items, products from your own offices etc). Thirdly, it would also be nice if you can help us to generate some revenue through some sponsorship, banner / stand sale etc. Last but not the least, your prayerful presence on Friday, 25 Oct 2013 at 4.30 PM
On behalf of the St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Dubai, may I invite all of you to be a part of this Harvest Festival 2013.
With best regards
For Harvest Festival 2013
Fr. T J Johnson, Vicar
Mr K C Joseph, General Convener, Harvest Festival 2013
