Introduction
The Khmer Language Processing Consortium is happy to announce the Second Annual Conference on Khmer Natural language Processing (KNLP 2015), where all its members and others working in this field bring together their work in an effort to collaboratively advance together towards building practical Natural Language Processing for Khmer. The first annual conference took place in October 2014.
The Khmer Natural Language Processing Consortium, created in 2014, groups universities, NGOs, private companies and researchers interested on accelerating – through close coordination and collaboration – the creation of effective natural language processing tools for Khmer language. These tools will be used to improve access to information and communication in this language.
The members of the consortium believe that coordinating research and development among them, and openly sharing their results and data with all other members – whenever legally possible – they will together be able to create the desired tools with the best possible quality in the shortest possible period.
The Consortium is formed by the National Institute of Posts, Telecommunications and ICT (NIPTICT), the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), the NGO Open Institute, The Buddhist Institute and the company Nokor group. It is open to all those working in this field.
KNLP 2015 is a unique, premier meeting of researchers, professional practitioners or implementers whose work might be of value to the development of language processing tools for Khmer, including research on linguistics or phonetics that might be applicable in this field. It provides the opportunity for them to network and discuss various current and advanced issues of interests in NLP that have or might have a relation with Khmer Language.
