Sr Data Modeler/Data Warehouse consultant needed in Boston, MA

Duties:
The
successful candidate will demonstrate awareness of data storage and management
techniques used for data warehouses, data marts, ad-hoc analysis, reporting, dashboard
creation, and security and filtering by role. The Senior Data Modeler will be
responsible for the analysis and design of data models at the conceptual,
logical and physical levels and for the development and maintenance of existing
enterprise models. This is a critical role for designing databases to support
channel applications and enterprise integration of data.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate lead level capabilities
in conceptual analysis, problem solving, and data analysis.
A
proven ability to take ownership of the business requirements, data analysis
and modeling sessions.
This position will be responsible for creation, maintenance and monitoring of
the Oracle applications and infrastructure, as well as creation of new reports
and dashboards to assist executive and managerial levels within EOLWD in
analyzing the business needs to Client the customers. The candidate must be
self-starting, have a strong attention to detail and accuracy, and able to fill
multiple roles within the Oracle environment.
Special Duties and Requirements:
Must be willing and able to work other than normal work hours in an emergency
to test new software, resolve critical system problems and/or perform
production system maintenance.
Must be willing to serve on periodical stand by duty when deemed necessary by management.
Must
be willing and able occasionally respond to telephone calls (or other means of
communication) received.
Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Bl analysts and internal customers to understand, analyze.
Interpret business requirements and technical specifications.
Develop and
document Conceptual/Logical/Physical design.
Create reports as requested and design delivery mechanisms and proactive notifications
for these reports, and provide on-going analytical and technical support.
Creation
and maintenance of the source to Client data mappings, ETL specifications and
complex transformation rules.
Assist in
developing and publishing data management standards, policies and procedures,
including the management and maintenance of related tools and environments.
Create, maintain and monitor the Oracle infrastructure on development, test and
production environment.
Collaborate with Oracle Database Administrators for the Warehouse database
design, data model, storage, security, performance and data environment
requirements.
Determine testing needed to ensure the functionality and integrity of reporting
solutions.
Perform maintenance and support of existing applications. Establish, Maintain and
Adhere to Enterprise Data Modeling and Data Integration Standards.
Must
be able to recognize and identify Patterns in Data Relationships from Disparate
Systems
Create and maintain technical documentation.
Participate in peer reviews on specifications, design and code.
Works with development teams to resolve development issues.
Work closely with QA and Operations to ensure smooth QA and deployment of
applications.
Work with project teams to plan integration and implementation strategies.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Strong development experience in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL to write queries. Stored
Procedures, Functions, Packages.
Knowledge of database architecture and design for Business Intelligence.
Knowledge of database indexing and tuning in Oracle Database.
Good understanding of ETL processes and procedures.
Experience in Oracle Warehouse builder or Oracle Data Integrator (ODI),
JavaScript and Java technologies is a plus.
Solid understanding of best practices for dashboard development and data
visualization techniques.
Ability to interpret requirements and technical specifications and translate
them into visual representations of information.
Working with program development teams to convey best practices for both data warehousing and OBIEE implementation.
Thorough
knowledge and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience performing Unit, Functional, Regression, Integration and User
Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure.

Ability to work well as an individual and within a team.
Strong verbal and written skills.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 plus years hands on experience in the design and development of relational and dimensional models.
5+ years experience with Oracle Designer/Erwin/Rational Rose.
Understanding of both Inmon and Kimball data architectures and when to apply both to large volumne Enterprise Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
5-6 years experience in Information Technology.
Solid Experience in Oracle, PL/SQL and UNIX shell scripting
Applied knowledge of back-end connectivity to database systems.
Must be highly organized and detail-orientated.
Experience in software development life-cycle.
Applied
knowledge in the development of n-Tier 00 system architectures.
Knowledge of and/or experience with Web Services Standards (SOAP, XML, WSDL,
UDDI) a plus.
Experience with standard internet protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, POP, FTP, SMTP
Applied knowledge of user interface technologies (HTML, JavaScript, JSP).
