Hi everyone,

Once again, great show last week. It was 100% better than episode 1,
and I have full faith that episode 3 will be 100% better still. Here
are my notes:

-Even though we finally realized that the clock in the control room
isn't quite in sync with the clock the station runs off of, we had
about 2 minutes without visual (luckily, there was audio) to start
with. We definitely have to synchronize our watches next time!

-The DJ /rupture roll-in: audio from performers faded out too late,
and can be heard from time-to-time throughout. Same with the
animation (Snake) but less so. Please be sure to turn the performers
all the way out next time.

-If we're using handheld cameras next time (and we should! they look
great) let's remember to disable the menu display on the screen before
we go live.

-Once again, wipes are outstanding (this is directed towards you,
Warren!)

In other news, we have a flickr group for any photos. I make a habit
of taking pictures when i can. Although you're not expected to, if
ever you do take any pictures, or have pics of things you've
contributed to share (ie, Noah's pink circuit bent cake...) feel free
to drop the pics in the group pool, and it'll show up on the website.

Next episode is Truman Peyote (audio only), and my friend Craniv,
who's going to be doing some painting. Live. In the studio. I want
to give him a bunch of transparencies and hook up either a small
camera or a projector to capture what he's doing. Have any ideas
about how to rig this up, ideas that might be a bit more creative than
that?

Also, let's get an idea of when and how we can start introducing
interactivity into the show ("dialing in" performers from other Share
chapters).

Thanks! Talk to you all soon!

Thanks for the critique. The studio audio was turned down completely on the board. It leaked through anyway even though we both did everything we could to make it go away.

Okay-- I'll be sure to ask Marissa et al. about that before next time.

Thanks!

Picture quality would be improved a great deal on the 30th by having
more camerapeople, preferably as many as there are cameras. I'll tell
video friends about the show--can others do the same?

harlo,

I just found ou that I will need to go down to new york this weekend and will not be able to make it on sunday i am sorry that it took so long to tell you but it just came up.   Reguarding the mulitple cameras check to see if they can do that i don't know if they are able to patch that many cameras in to the board to work as hand helds.  the hand held we used last time was coming in under the same channel as the video feed from the preformers.

I am assuming we arrive at 6 PM like every other week.

John helped us out last time, and is now a new permanent addition to our group.

Jon is right: call is 6:00 p.m. every time.  Warren, will you be able to find a replacement for this weekend?

Thanks,
Harlo

Harlo, some priorities have changed, I don’t think I can make it down on Sun nites anymore…

I do hope the program goes well and that it’s a success for you and the gang…

Thanks and take care…

Hi Harlo,

Just a few mental notes on yesterday’s shoot before I forget.

There is no title.

The first half-hour went well.

Some of the images that Doug captured on the hand-held were quite fun to play with.

The transition to the dvd was bumpy. I wanted to fade to black first, and then bring it up, but I think I just cut to it.

The transition out of the dvd was a bit of a fiasco. First there is some language you may want to delete.

Then, of course, the switcher froze, and all I had at my disposal were the overhead and Doug’s handheld.

Finally, you may want to throw up some credits:

Director, technical director: John Melczer

Sound: Jonathan and Michael

Hand-held camera: Doug

Floor cameras: Greg Gagnon (floor director), Wayne Robinson, Inez, Mark.

Performers: Truman Peyote, et al.

You may need to contact Marissa for last names.

I think overall, the footage for the first ½ hour is good. I was able to do a lot of transitioning from the four floor cams, overhead, and handheld.

I did have to open up the irises on a few of the floor cams, as it seemed to me a bit dark in the beginning.

Ciao,

John Melczer
