We have 2 emergency call stations in each resident apartment, as well as in other locations in our commons building. These stations are not hard wired but rather they use a wireless short-wave frequency (not WIFI) with each station having a battery-powered remote that sits inside a traditional electrical box. We have a number of booster devices (called repeaters) that support the signal coverage. We have two call station consoles (one at staff desk and one at admin desk) that indicate via an alarm using speakers which apartment or commons building location is calling for help. Our system is old school (installed in 2007 but still works great) so I'm sure there are updated versions. I am attaching info on our 2 consoles (MicroVision 300) and the emergency pull stations (VL160-3).

Hi Everyone,
We use the Phillips System, through our Tech Provider, and connects thru Wi-Fi.
We have Ipods with the staff so whenever a station is pulled, we are alerted to the appropriate room. Additionally, we have a “garage door opener” that residents can carry anywhere on campus and, if having and emergency, can push the button and alert us. The alert will tell us the room # the opener belongs to, and we can then track the person done by schedule and/or sign-in/out.

Hello All –
I hope you are all doing well! We’ve done a couple of virtual School Connections events and are always faced with the tough choice of deciding to be in the therapeutic group or the boarding group (neither of which is a great fit!). We proposed to School Connections that they consider adding a postsecondary category to better capture programs like all of us. Sounds like they tried once before and didn’t have a great turnout (lots of programs canceling at the last minute). We thought if we let them know how many programs from our group would be interested, that they might be willing to try it again.
The virtual format is typically from 11 am – 1 pm and every 20 minutes you switch to a new program/consultant pairing (a total of 5 meetings). The cost is $350.
Please let me know if you are interested in taking part in a postsecondary specific virtual School Connections by Friday 9/15/23. I will then reach out to Carrie at S.C. to share who’s interested and to see if they’d be willing to give it a try.

I heard from several of you that you found the School Connections virtual event to be a valuable resource! Seems School Connections felt the same way – they’ve offered to host a few additional dates in early 2024 if any programs are interested. They would need a total of 5 programs to run one event.
